I have videos from actual id theft victims and you are absolutely correct that recovering your identity once it's been stolen can be a nightmare. One woman keeps getting arrested for crimes committed by someone using her name, and as soon as she thinks it's all over with she gets arrested again and has to start the process all over. It's been happening in a cycle like that for years. Another woman almost had her children away after a woman gave birth to a crack baby using her identity. She nearly lost her kids to child services while trying to get it through to them that it really wasn't her. You probably know horror stories like these as well.
